Paul -
In response to okla's "...i have absolutely no inside poop on those possible "electronic mines", but methinks they are just some type buoy."
These are absolutely the cases of U.S. Army command detonated harrbor defense mines.
Here's a great link to how they were used in the Harbor Defenses of San Fancisco.

I really need to get off my butt and join this forum. Need to get back out there and drink some San Magoos w/ you, Karl and Tony too!
As usual,

Tony -
I'm thinking about retiring in the next few years. After that I'll have the time to really get armpit deep in Bataan and the fortified islands. I'd like to see if I can track down that 3" 1903 that was up on Mt. Santa Rosa in the '70s. I'm planning on getting back out to the Marianas too; probably hop into Manila from there.
The second and third ones are on me!

Tony -
Okay, we're at a half-case each now. Time to bring on the dancing girls!
BTW - For those unfamiliar with the Coast Defense Study Group website, here's another good link to an article on controlled mine defenses...

Thanks mapmaster! I'll jump in when I've got something to contribute.
eXo - I've considered myself a "Rockhead" since my first visit - way back in 1974.
