I don't remember seeing any railway ties lying around that area at all.
The only junk in the immediate area of the eastern tunnel entrance is some old truck tires lying there.

MY MISTAKE FOTZ.
NOT TIES BUT THE STEEL RAILS. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TUNNELS CAPS AND ROOFS FOR STABILITY.
MAYBE THE SCRAPPERS GOT THEM ALL OUT OF THE TUNNELS.

JUST LOOKED AT YOUR PICTURES OF THE TUNNELS AND SEE NO STEEL RAILS OR CONCRETE INSIDE.
WONDER IF HE WAS TALKING ABOUT THE CAP ON C1?

Hi Phantom,
When I re-read that I think he is referring to C1 and not the tunnel.
There may be rails in the cap but since it is in quite good shape you can't see them.

hey phantom....methinks that S-4 is materiel. if memory serves S-1 is personnel, S-2 is definitely intelligence and S-3 is operations. its been so many years, but thats the way i remember it. if i am mistaken lay it on to senility and i will harbor no ill feelings.

Mapmaster the tables you presented were explained to me by my daughters Engineer boyfriend and an old friend who was also an Engineer for American airlines for many years. Both enjoyed examining your presentation.
Okla am not sure myself about S4. Your explanation sounds good to me.

Hey Mr. Phantom,
I'll try not to rub it in too much but I was standing over the C1 tunnel three hours ago.
By the way, the walk from the road past the Senior Officer's Quarters/Crockett Trail intersection to the C1 tunnel takes 7 minutes.
Yesterday I found the underground magazine and original keyhole AA gun block up on the ridge where Battery Boston was.
If you are back in January we'll go there.
