Here are some shells that can be seen (and rarely seen) around the island. 12-inch Shell (for M1895 guns and M1890 mortars) 12-inch shell used for 12-inch guns and mortars. This one is deck piercing shell. This is a 6-inch Navy round (usually found in light cruisers). The holes in the pointed part of the windscreen is where the colored dye bags are inserted to see the splashes. 10-inch Shell used at Battery Grubbs 10-inch HE round (for Battery Grubbs) 14-inch Shell Japanese 120mm shell (for the Mark 10 DP gun) 75mm shell (used for pack howiters) found near the slopes of Malinta by the fat batteryboy An intact US 3-inch AA shell found by beach sweepers. Now in possesion of Ron Benadero CFI. FWIW,

Hi darthdract, These forums are the best for Corregidor information for sure. Many of the foreigners on here are retired therefore have the time to indulge in discussions and exploring. Most Filipinos I know who are interested in the island (and WWII in general) have younger families and are still working. This severely restricts leisure activities. Somehow guys like batteryboy seem to do both. I am glad you like the pbase photos. That site needs a major overhaul and update which I will get around to one of these years. Hey batteryboy, Good information there. I often see those shells and have no idea in what guns they could have been used in. Regarding ones not on display, I can think of a 6-inch shell sticking out of the ground west of Ramsay and a 3-inch shell on the side on Malinta Hill. Imagine all the duds buried out of sight on Corregidor.

Thanks Batteryboy for the Additional Pics and info, I am an artillery fan as well one the reasons I became interested with the Rock, Wow those are live shells you are holding.. I dont think I have the balls to pick one up like that. The 14 inchers I guess are for the Guns at Fort Hughes and Frank right or Ft Drum?
