At the time I first became aware of the Clark Veterans Cemetery fiasco I was doing some research on military cemetery regulations. I stumbled upon a current Army Regulation which says Army has to move the graves from abandoned post cemeteries. I suggested to the guys at Clark that I would give Army 90 days to move them (remember they came from Ft McKinley and Ft Stotsenberg) and after that I would start shipping them to the pentagon, freight collect. I admire the guys at Clark for taking the high road and trying to do things right - although my experience dealing with the feds is that they usually do the right thing only when forced.
Perhaps leaving a symbolic (empty) casket at the WWII Memorial on the Mall might make the right people aware of what the Pentagon has done.

Hey John....Are you intimating that, in many instances, dealing with the Feds is akin to urinating against the wind??? I have found it so, especially, when the VA is involved.

The VA is the only organization in the universe that can give money away and make people mad. That takes real talent.
The older I get, the less tolerance I have for them. I'm afraid that by the time I get to be your age, Okla, (in about 2 more weeks), I'll get a visit from all the letter agencies with guns drawn.
The situation at Clark is just beyond belief - they built that cemetery, they maintained that cemetery, and now they think they can just go off and forget about that cemetery. If they can do it there, what's to stop them doing the same thing at the Ft Sam National Cemetery or any of the others. Its time for vets to step up and say enough.

You're almost 80 John? You seem much younger in print.

OK, closer to three weeks, I'm 29 and holding. (Good clean living keeps me young.)
But Okla and I do share disdain for government.

Who was it that said "Politicians and diapers should be changed often and for the same reason"?
I was an umpire for many years. We would always say that we knew we were doing a good job when no one noticed we were there. Government should be like that. We should elect these guys, they should have to go through a vote of confidence every six months. If they don't pass the vote...new election!

Who was it that said "Politicians and diapers should be changed often and for the same reason?" Mark Twain?
