I had seen this cave many times since I was a kid. Then there was a long time that I had not saw it. After reading Montgomery's "I hired out to fight" or "The Battle of Bataan" (whichever book, i forgot where I read about a cave where they hid), the cave came into my mind. Just last year, the house blocking the cave was removed. This cave is now available for public view. I made a stop there after registering my vehicle with LTO. It's right beside the Mamala river in Limay. Dug into the ridge beside it. Right beside the Highway(I don't know if most of the current highway is all part of the East Road). The area could have been a jungle before. The inside of the cave seems to be "molested" by treasure hunters. Any thoughts from you guys? Attachments:

Pit at the bottom. Extra care is a must. The pit is about 15 feet deep. No ladders or rope in there. Attachments:

I didn't bother to go spelunking farther. I was alone. No other person is there to ask questions or to assist me. Safety first. Attachments:

Wow sherwino, very interesting. Sorry I cannot help you with any information on this cave as I did not know it existed. I wouldn't mind seeing that someday.
Does it look like it goes in much further?
Since you live in Mariveles, I have a question for you. Near Mariveles, have you ever heard of Corkscrew Pass?
Salamat.

Hey, fots.
It can't say that it goes further. It feels creepy to be alone inside. The deep pit at the entrance, the unfamiliar cave terrain, and the thought of that I might call some unwanted attention. I just took some shots and sped away. I thought of safety. Maybe I'll come back someday with company.
I'm an adventurer and been here, there and many-wheres in Bataan. But Corkscrew pass? Never heard of it. Maybe some description may help.

Hi sherwino,
Here is all I have on Corkscrew Pass.
The 38th Inf. Division Historical Report has some information about the 151st Infantry proceeding from Mariveles up to Bagac on February 17th, 1945. A bit further, the record shows two labeled photos of Japanese Pillboxes that required American tanks to destroy them. The only location info says “Corkscrew Pass near Mariveles”.
Since the pillboxes were probably concrete since tanks were required, I was wondering where they are and if anything remains of them today.

Now, there's a lead. I've been somewhere there. And this morning, I did test drive my car over there. Didn't go any farther because the car's been a headache since yesterday afternoon. The road going there is being improved because of the Camaya Coast. After Camaya Coast, I cannot tell. But I also did travel the West Road from Bagac up to where there's road. I haven't tried passing thru all of the West Road.
A friend told me they passed thru jungles somewhere there to get to Bagac, maybe some four years ago. They put their motorbikes on a log just to cross a shallow river. There's a destroyed bridge. They saw spent cartridges somewhere there. Maybe that place can be near a pillbox. Several portions can be a candidate for Corkscrew Pass near Mariveles and from Bagac.
Got pictures? The background may tell the location.

Hi sherwino, That is interesting. Here are the two photos I mentioned to you. They probably provide little location detail but you can see what I am talking about. (Photos from Pages 41 and 41 of “Avengers of Bataan”, The 38th Infantry Division Historical Report).
