My dad, Allen Klischer was a member of the 503rd PRCT. He was in the 2nd Btn, "F" company. He was wounded on April 22nd, 1945 during an assault on machine gun positions on the island of Negros.
My Dad passed away on December 16th, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. He was always my hero even though he would seldom talk about his service time with the 503rd. He was a good, strong man who never met an obstacle he couldn't overcome. He was proud of his service time among elite warriors and was the person I always wanted to be.
GOD bless you all for your service and sacrifice.
Allen Klischer Jr, USAF 1967-1971

Allen,
I am sorry for your loss. It sounds as though you miss him very much still.
My father-in-law passed away 9 years ago tomorrow. He is remembered with laughter and a few tears now. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
My dad passed almost 40 years ago yesterday. I am reminded of him when I watch my kids live their lives. Little bits of him surface now and then in them. He was a veteran of WWII but served in the Panama Canal Zone.
I hope you continue to explore this web site to learn more of the situations your dad was probably thrust into back then. Your awe and love for him will most likely grow as you do.
As one new member to another......welcome!
