I started this new thread to place here, the images and points of interest, belonging to all the other Fort Mills search lights. The more interesting search lights, like SL#2 and SL#8 already have their own threads. Search Light No. 6 (SL-6) Fort Mills on Corregidor Island. This Search Light is at an isolated position, near Search Light Point. Since the South Shore Road is completely destroyed at this area most people come here by boat if at all. On the 17th Jan 2013 John and I decided to come here on foot by walking down the Crockett Ravine slopes from the entrance of C1 Tunnel. I had done that two times before. It is always a challenge to get down to the ravine bottom because of all the thicket around the bottom banks of the ravine. But we saved at least 3000 pesos by not hiring a boat. Search Light 6 is still intact, although it is ravaged by scrappers. We gained access to SL-6 from a small ravine, next and SE of Search Light Point. We descended straight down to the beach, next and east of the search light. Here is my album, the 17 images have descriptions s74.photobucket.com/albums/i265/PI-Sailor/Corregidor%20by%20subject/Search-Lights%20Ft-Mills%20CI/Search-Light%20No%206/Here are some sample images: 2013-01-17 SL-6, my lead image, looking out. 2013-01-17 SL-6, my 1936 Corregidor map from CDSG 2013-01-17 SL-6, Our GPS track and Landmarks, on a terrain map 2013-01-17 SL-6, Our GPS track and Landmarks, GE, tilted 2013-01-17 SL-6, Our GPS track around the search light 2013-01-17 SL-6, looking in. 2013-01-17 SL-6, looking up left 2013-01-17 SL-6, the ventilation holes 2013-01-17 Search Light No-6, Fort Mills, the operating area in front. 2013-01-17 SL-6, the ventilation shaft

Search Light No.4 on Wheeler Point. This is one of the hardest places to get to. My graph explains it , the way of the two failed attempts are just too steep and risky. The recent time I was there, the fallen trees and steepness was a challenge and when I got there I was exhausted. Here is the album with 17 images: s74.photobucket.com/albums/i265/PI-Sailor/Corregidor%20by%20subject/Search-Lights%20Ft-Mills%20CI/Search-Light%20No%204%20Wheeler%20Pt/Here are some sample images: This map explains the route we got there and the shows the actual route to the light. 091114 Search Light No. 4 on Wheeler Point, the entrance. 091114 Search Light No. 4 on Wheeler Point, The vent openings, the right rear corner (looking in) 091114 Search Light No. 4 on Wheeler Point, looking out of the shelter. 091114 Search Light No. 4 on Wheeler Point, the left shelter wall, looking out. 091114 Search Light No. 4 on Wheeler Point, I don’t remember but they are on the track to the operating position. Karl - Thanx a bunch. Now I've seen all of the SL's for the harbor forts. I'm sort of suprised that the scrappers got to #4, it being so hard to get to, but those guys are tenacious.
