I am looking for any information anyone may have on my grandfather, Bert Brooks Wilkinson who died at Corregidor and is listed as missing: he was with the 59th CA, Battery B; supposedly died on 8/04/1941 but is listed on the muster roll of March 31 1942
Any help would be greatly appreciated, my email is wwfacsman44@gmail.com and my name is William Brooks Wilkinson.

This is better. I tried to respond on the shoutbox thing and screwed it up. I checked the ABMC database and it confirms what you already know. WILKINSON BERT B PFC 6381983 59th Coast Artillery Regiment Alabama Date of death August 4, 1941 Listed on the tablets of the missing That date of death doesn't make sense. I also checked the Cabanatuan #1 burial roster and didn't find him listed (thinking his actual date of death might be 1942). That doesn't mean he didn't die on one of the many work details in 1942. I would suggest you contact the Army Casualty Office. Their contact information is posted at www.hrc.army.mil/TAGD/Past%20Conflict%20Repatriations%20Branch%20PCRB%20Mission%20StatementSince your grandfather is still missing, they would like to work with you to find a family member who can contribute a DNA sample in case his remains are ever found (and there is a good chance of that). Ask them to send you his Individual Deceased Personnel File (IDPF) and I am sure that will answer a lot of questions. Once you have that, email bataanmissing at gmail.com and perhaps he can be matched to one of the 9,000 sets of unidentified remains.
