Great photos, but I cant quite place were that radio building was located (somewhere on topside) and that huge radio tower next to it. Was that tower still there at the beginning of the war? Perhaps some of our Corregidor experts can chime in.

cbuehler, Radio Station #1 is on Topside due west of the Parade Ground. It still exists but is quite damaged. It is an easy walk to get there. The antenna was strung between two tall towers. The towers were removed pre-war but I do not know exactly when. Four big concrete blocks at each tower location are all that remain today. Radio Station #1 is building #69. Note the antenna towers are also shown on the map. Here are a few more photos for you. A 1939 or 1940 view of Radio Station #1. Photo courtesy Paul Cornwall collection. A 1920s view of the twin antenna towers. Radio Station #1 in 1945 (bottom of photo). An outside wall of Radio Station #1. One of eight concrete pedestals which supported the two towers.

Hey Fots....We can always depend on you to come thru in the clutch. How much longer are you going to be away from the PI??? All your snakes, spiders and other varmints should be getting extremely lonely by now. Cheers.
