Not actually a trip report or even a planed trip but a plug for a bit of equipment I bought for myself and which I have found to be far ahead of its competitors - the Ayup Lights headlight (Australia). Not cheap but combines top quality construction with real bright lights and a long battery life AND (thinking of Fort Frank & Drum) it has two independently focusing beams so one can illuminate where you plan to go while the other illuminates those dangerous few feet where you are about to step! To those who have not been lucky enough to visit those two places both of them have quite a few vertical shafts / drops. I bought the runners kit which with spare battery & car charger which was just over A$300 including tax which seems a lot but when divided by cost of a cup of coffee / bottle of beer / the LV handbag your wife needs / the LV handbag your wife has / the LV handbags your wife already has but is waiting the right time to tell you about ..... its a positive bargain Seriously though, I have used a lot of top brand headlights and they don't even begin to compare with these. Exploring tunnels, or ending up walking as darkness falls I think this headlight will give the light you need. I have no connection or interest (apart from being a satisfied user). Their website is www.ayup-lights.com
