Hey Army....Thanks for posting this material. It is good stuff. When I was a teenager back in the late 40s, residing at McAllen, Texas, I knew this neighbor man who was a retired Army Sergeant, having served on several scattered Army posts during his 20 some years in the Army. He was at Corregidor during the 1920s, "serving the Big Guns", as he described it. I don't recall how many tours he was on "The Rock", but he was emphatic that it was the best duty he experienced, so he may have extended his tour, voluntarily. He retired from the Army in the early 1930s, at Fort Ringold, Texas, located on the Mexican-Texas border at Rio Grande City, Texas. "Mac", the ex-Army gent, always said that joining the peactime Army was a sure way to keep from "looking an old gray mule in the butt" on a rocky, Tennessee hillside for a living. Corregidor was Paradise to him. I posted this little "tidbit" a few years back, but your very interesting contribution reminded me of this grizzled, ex-Sergeant and his fond memories of duty on Corregidor, so I am throwing it our there for newer Forum members. Cheers.

Corregidor service sounds like being on a paid vacation!
