Have been thinking about Drum lately, I miss the updates and have been browsing through old threads as thats just about all there is. Was wondering a few things
* What is the status of Drum now, still a no go zone ? * How many levels did/does it have vs how many are permanently inaccessible ? * How many men filled out its roster ? * I know Drum was fairly impervious to enemy fire, how many casualties were suffered from the outbreak of war to surrender ? * How close is the nearest land ? How deep are the surrounding waters ? * I'm taking it the big guns did not have 360 traverse, what was its traverse and does anyone have a pic/gif showing its field of fire ?
Thanks, hope all is well with everyone here.

On levels accessible: all but the forward water / fuel tank deck are accessible although the rear machinery room is semi submerged

With regard to the current status of Ft. Drum, it is still off limits as it has been for some time now. I believe the presentation of the explorations made by Fireball and myself was the last report made, which was back in 2012. We do not currently know the condition of interior since then, but is has surely worsened even more in the past four years. Scrapping and deterioration are slowly but surely taking their toll. It was hazardous exploring the interior back then, and even if it was still allowed to visit, I would be hesitant to advise it. The other information requested can be found on this forum and other sites.
