I have an article appearing in the Jan./Feb. issue of "World War II" magazine concerning the real story behind the iconic photos of Gen. MacArthur's landings on Leyte and Luzon. For years, stories have floated around that these photos were staged and that the general did numerous "takes" until the photographer got the perfect shot. Those stories aren't true, according to the people who were there, but what really happened is even stranger.
