Well that's a bummer. One of the best reasons for camping in a bombed out building in jungle there was not having to pack up everything when you leave. I would be concerned to leave my stuff at the beach while I tromp around elsewhere. There are guards but still things have legs. Funny story though, one time I was not in a bombed out building but just in the middle of the jungle and left all my stuff there to go exploring. When I got back my camp was essentially gone! Scattered to kingdom come by monkeys! I learned a lesson that day! haha! Well, I guess unless things change, my last trip will be my last trip. If ever any of you guys get an opportunity to talk with the big shots who make these decisions, please try to convince them to keep the camping fee low and to allow it anywhere on the island! It's a real pain if you want to explore topside or tailside but have to camp at the beach...that's a lot of hoofing that used to be avoided in the old days. Not sure if that was a CFI decision or a Manager decision...I have a feeling CFI because Ron never had a problem with campers and that rule came in while he was still stationed out there.

I was always a little concerned with having things stolen, but I always had my camera and other valuables on me. The only thing I had stolen was my paracord clothesline. Pretty sure it was one of the marathon runners who were there a few years ago. I told him I didn't mind him borrowing it, but when they all left, the cord left with them! Fearing things walking off is definitely a valid concern.

Corregidor Inn & area 2022-06-14 Many people that have visited Corregidor remember the Corregidor Inn fondly. So, when we came down from Topside on our first day, we entered the hotel area from the west end, from the gate of the War Memorial Zone. Many people like to know what is going on with Corregidor Inn. Sun Cruses Inc who operated gave it up because there was no income. That was for several reasons, they renovated it as a big, big job, for a lot of money and it was not in operation for a long time; in my opinion that renovation was unnecessary. When they opened it the room prices doubled and people like could not afford it anymore, so very few guests and little income. Then came the virus from Red China and killed this business! Several times did we hear and we asked, they said: when there is a group of visitors large enough, the Corregidor Foundation Inc. (CFI) opens it up and it is utilized then. If you are interested, here is the contact information for CFI. Melody Bondoc Sales & Marketing Officer Corregidor Foundation Inc. Visit 2022-06-14: app.photobucket.com/u/PI-Sailor/a/74723fbb-5d16-425b-947d-d37285d2687dFor this presentation I chose these 3 images: -This is one of 5 images as we approach the Corregidor Inn from the War Memorial Zone, We see the road split up, left going down to the north side of Corregidor Bottomside and right going down to the south side of Corregidor Bottomside, The roads look like they were recently renewed. The embankment work on the right road was going on while we were on Corregidor at this visit. The goat grass cutting gang seemed to have got bigger and I got a few shots of this gang hanging around these two newly concreted roads. In the first picture the Inn has come into view and in the 2nd pic, we just passed thru the gate to the War Memorial Zone and we are looking back. -This is one of 4 images, numbers 6 to 9, and showing that the tower just west of the Corregidor Inn swimming pool is being renovated. The next two pictures show there is no change in the status of the swimming pool, It is not in operation and the water is dirty. -This is one of 4 images; the Corregidor Inn is in view. One can go up the steps and then walk all the way to the dining veranda area because the last expensive renovation made it so. Up at this level one can look thru the windows and see that all the furniture and things are in place in the dining and lounge area, but it is locked up. The man we met was a former Sun Cruises Hotel employee but is now a CFI employee. He seems to be on watch here, he said if there are guests he takes care of everything. Then in the last pic my friend Eric and I departed via the rear Inn steps and looked over other areas at Bottomside.
