Just want to say hello to all on the site. In the course of conducting some research for my annual trip back to the Philippines, I came across this web site.... I am really pleased to have found this forum.

Ltcol
In Navy/Marine parlance, welcome aboard.
If you are even slightly interested in WWII history, you are in the right place.
If you have never been to Corregidor, may I suggest you stay there for a couple of days. My first trip there was the day tour and I was ready to go back even before I left. This place will grab a hold of your interest and imagination and it will not let go. We here call it a pleasant obsession.

Hello everyone! I'm a millennial with great interest in World War 1 & 2 studies. My late grandfather was a World War 2 veteran from Southern Luzon here in Philippines, and ever since I was a child I have been hearing its stories and had read about its history. I have come to know more about Corregidor when I read my grand auntie's Nat Geo magazine from 1970s featuring Corregidor. I had been obsessed since then. Whenever I get the chance and budget, I travel and never fail to visit the war memorials I would come across in every place I visit. First I've visited was in Plaza Cuartel, Puerto Princesa City in 2012 followed by Kundasang War Memorial in Sabah, Malaysia in 2014. Fast forward to a decade, I finally had the chance to visit Corregidor mid-May this month after booking a day tour with Sun Cruises. It was an awesome and nostalgic trip and experience. The ghosts of Corregidor sleep with her, and with every ground, rubble and pebble that I stepped unto I could feel our old heroes presence. We paid homage to all of them, appreciated its quaint beauty and promised to come back. Needless to say, visiting Corregidor is a dream come true for me! Day tour was not enough so I will surely return in the majestic island fortress.

Hello Jo Alberto
I too, did the day tour on my first visit. It was just the start.
Like many here at this site, it stirred something inside me as it appears as though it has done to you. We all feel the mystique of what went on there and feel it pulling us back. I do not see how anyone can just do the day tour and not know deep inside that they must return. Or maybe that is just people like us, I do not know. I just know that I will be back there as many times as possible. Perhaps I will see you there.
Welcome aboard.
