Cabanatuan American Memorial Name-Panes
of the former right wall with names of POWs who died.
The Cabanatuan American Memorial was dedicated by American and Filipino Comrades, families and friends in 1982. Cabanatuan is in Central Luzon Island in the Philippines. ABMC, recognizing the significance of this memorial, accepted responsibility for its operation and maintenance in 1989.
Names of almost 3,000 U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps prisoners who died at Cabanatuan are inscribed on the wall. I’m a child of WWII and it formed my life! The death of so many soldiers and others as POWs is mindboggling!
In 2016 ABMC said, it restored the Memorial and the name panes were replaced and it was closed for a considerable time. On the 4th of 2023 I visited it. I find the new name-panes hard to read and they were very hard to photograph with my cheap camera and limited talent. But I will post them later.
The previous panels were a lot easier to read and to photograph and I posted them in 2008 in my Photobucket account. I just reviewed that album, ½ of the name panes, the right side of the wall; it has 37 images. The wall with the name-panes was in two sections. Here is the URL and 11 sample pictures: app.photobucket.com/u/PI-Sailor/a/4cf0dca7-f0cc-4616-8362-44286279cf6e?field=TITLE&desc=asc
Note to view the Photobucket album:

The American Battle Monument Commission (ABMC) has a list of names on the panes at the Cabanatuan Memorial and you can find them as a PDF file with this URL: www.abmc.gov/Cabanatuan
