Whenever I hear the word "develope" in the Philippines, I shudder. If TIEZA can maintain Corregidor as it does Mt Samat, perhaps there is some hope!

DATELINE: Manila, 1 October 2020 FROM: Corregidor Foundation Inc, by Jerry Rollin
We are struggling to maintain the island at the moment as we have no income, but we are able, with reduced manpower, to keep the remembrance site clean and tidy. We are planning to open up again for tourists on 7 November. This of course is subject to the Covid controls. But we have to set a target to work towards. We are having a few visitors at the moment who make their own way to the island. We apply social distancing, masks, alcohol and registration. Although the hotel is still closed we have accommodation available at the MacArthur Lodge, the dormitories in the Hostel and cottages at the beach resort.
best regards and stay safe,
Jerry Rollin

Cottages at the beach resort? That is something new, is it not? Them being used, that is.
I don't recall them ever being used, if I had been told that, I don't remember it.
I had always wondered about that "resort" area. It looked like it had so much potential but as far as I can remember the club house was never completed, just an empty shell.
If given the proper attention (and funding, there is the rub) it looked like a great place to stay. I never got a chance to go down to the 92nd Garage area to look at them but someone posted pictures here, Karl or John, I think.
Since the hotel had its charm bypass, I would be willing to give the cottages a try.
Any updated pictures of that area available?

G'day Beirutvet,
I have stayed at the cottages at 92nd Garage a few times, though not for several years. The stays were 'enforced', in the sense that the Corregidor Inn was booked solid, and Sun Cruises moved a few of us there. (A bad habit of theirs to move guests!) Of course, we were not happy at the time, as their cottages were not not as sweet as the rooms of the Inn. But we were on Corregidor, and for us, that was the main thing. I haven't seen them for a long while. Let me put it this way, I would crawl over a mile of cut glass if I could get to Corregidor tomorrow, and stay wherever they put me. I would gladly spend 14 days quarantine there!
As for the club house, well, I do not have direct evidence, only hearsay, that the building had been condemned for structural cracking. So that would be out of the question, I suppose.
It depends upon how much a person believes in karma, but I have long considered that building a 'resort' over the ruins of a prison camp is unwise. Unwise then, unwise now. Exception - I would really like to stay a week at Colditz Castle!

The Philippine Government's Covid Rules prescribe that you cannot be over the age of 60 if you are intending to visit Corregidor.
Do not pass GO.
Don't you just love it?

Well that rules out the current President of the Philippines being able to visit Corregidor . He is 75 years of age .

Learning to travel in the Philippines; Now, as the virus crisis from Red China is affecting our daily life. I have returned to the Philippines after a 15 months absence. After the 2 week self isolation and catching up with most personal matters, I have now time to look at other things. Yesterday I went to bus terminals and today went to my Barangay (village) Hall for information and I have learned this. From Olongapo City, where I live, the Saulog Bus ONLY runs to Santa Cruz, the most northern town in the Zambales province. The Victory Liner also goes to Santa Cruz and to San Fernando in Pampanga only. One has to change to another Victory Liner and it only goes to Cubao in Manila. The passenger has to have a travel permit and a medical certificate from one’s Barangay. Today, at my Barangay Barretto, I learned the medical certificate only can be obtained on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. I’m planning to travel on the 15th of Jan. so, that means I have to request the document son the 12th of Jan. Also the purpose of the travel has to be for a good reason, like work. -For historical Research I would like to visit several points in Bataan with my car on the 15th of Jan. 2020. -The first two points are Villa Carmen in Cabcaben and the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific Survival Complex (MAAP) for the purpose to check on boat transportation to Corregidor in preparation of the 76th Anniversary of the liberation of Corregidor. The anniversary will be conducted with the Corregidor Foundation INC (CFI) part of the Philippine Department of Tourism. The anniversaries will be conducted on the 16th Feb. 2020, the anniversary of the airborne assault and on the 2nd of March when Gen. MacArthur personally accepted the liberated island from the Paratroopers. I am assuming that the CFI will observe the anniversaries someway. I will contact them soon. -The next point is Longoskawayan Point in Mariveles where the Philippine Scouts and the big guns of Corregidor sent the sons of the Rising Sun to their heaven in 1942. -The last points are Quinauan Point and Anyasan Point, half way between Mariveles and Bagac, again this is another place where the valiant Philippine and American Forces defeated the Imperial Japanese invaders. Then I will return home via the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) Morong Gate. I’m a member of the Corregidor Heritage Proboards, corregidor.proboards.com/And the Advocates for Philippine Heritage Preservation (AHP), www.facebook.com/groups/advocatesforheritagepreservationphilippinesWe publish our research work in the above URLs: So, on the 12th I will request, wish me good luck

Heck Karl, that's exhausting just to read! I don't fancy the tasks they put you through just to jump through those hoops. You must be exhausted. They really have paralyzed the country, haven't they!
