I want to make public a project I recently started; I call it “the Ohio Project”. I’m currently in the process of acquiring information about men that served with the 503rd during WWII from an Ohio perspective. As a starting point, I have names of those men from Ohio that are on our Honor roll. I also have the state photo with names, which is a great reference. But I know there are more than just the 90 some names I have. For instance, the men from Ohio that jumped on Corregidor that were injured and not KIA, most likely did not show up for the state photo. But who are they? I’m asking for help from anyone who might know of Ohio 503rd members that are not outwardly obvious from the 2 stated sources above.
I have currently made contact with 6 members still with us and a handful of family members of men that have faded away. I know there are more; I just need help from outside sources. When the project is finished, I hope to represent every single man from Ohio. A tall order I know, that is why I need to use every avenue available to find information.
Thank you in advance for any info you can help me with.

Dear Daniel, My name is Verne S. White, in the army there was a Jr. tacked on. On turning 18 I enlisted in Mariemont which is a small suburb east of Cincinnati. In 1944 it was my luck to be assigned to the 503rd. As a Sgt. my position was in S-2 of 1st Bn. Hq. co. We passed over the Rock on Feb. 17th then went north to Subic Bay and made a sea landing on South Beach. We were under fire before we got 50 yds. in. On the 20th it was my misfortune to get wounded and sent home. Discharged from Kennedy Gen'l. Hosp. in Memphis. You can find my story as well as others on corregidor.org. The web master is Paul Whitman and Aussie who has accumulated tons of info. Another way to find the story is on Google using my name.
You may contact me at vswhite1@yahoo.com. Currently living in Redlands, CA which east of LA on I 10 about 40 miles west of Palm Springs.
