If the yellow docks got to you, you will love this one… Currently under construction at the Corregidor Inn and at the South Beach are support platforms for a new line between the two points. Strap on a harness, clip onto the line and slide down to the beach. It is expected to be operational in one month. Looking down from the restaurant railing, the mount for a new support post is under the tarp. The metal receiving platform can be seen just above south beach. A new handrail is being installed and bolts have been placed in concrete in which the platform will be placed. At beach level, the Corregidor Inn starting point can be seen through the metal. (The nearest clinic, usually unstaffed, is over the hill to the right. Battery Hearn can soon try a new adventure ride without leaving home.

So they want to put in a zip line from the hotel to south beach?

Zip Lines must be the fad of the moment there in the Philippines, as I see that on the front page of the Inquirer website today they have a photo which is captioned : FLYING LIKE SUPERMAN From a launch point at 4,000 feet above sea level, extreme sports enthusiasts try the 840-meter zip line with a speed of 60 to 80 kph over treetops and lush greenery at the Dahilayan Adventure Park in Bukidnon.
I won't link the photo, as the address is sure to change in 24 hrs. I suppose there are Zip Lines going up all over, as the white-shoe brigade of local "now you see-em, now you don't" carpetbagging entrepreneurs rush to make quick bucks out of ruining natural vistas all over the Philippines. Anyone want to go into a partnership in a FERRIS WHEEL on North Dock?

hey all. ....This type activity is an absolute atrocity and dishonors the guys, american and filipino, who served on the rock during the siege and retaking. It makes me, more and more, regretful that some kind of agreement was'nt worked out at the time of Philippine independence where the US Park Service could have been given authority over Corregidor and the other Bay Forts so as to preserve them in the proper fashion. The Philippine government could have retained full sovereignty, etc but the good folks who maintain Gettysburg, Shiloh, etc would have caretaker status of the "rock". I wouldnt be surprised to, someday, see a huge roller coaster on the topside parade ground. yuk.

In the early 90's when mountain bikes were a fad in the Philippines, the Corregidor Inn operated a rent a mountain bike operation. Then some poor tourist met an accident due to a faulty breakline so immediately it was stopped.
I just hope whoever operates this must have good safety standards.

Nice report Fots.
Some observations.
I am not familiar with a Zip ride. Are they to still build the stout hollow block wall that stops all riders before plunging onto the South Dock?
Some trees appear to be in the way. Maybe pick coconuts on the way by as a byproduct...........
Now I know we can dig out the cable shed near South Dock, a concrete covered ticker booth, ready made!
More San Miguel and Red Horse sales at the South Dock cafe for survivors...............
I agree with Okla, it being a travesty for those who died on Black Beach and elsewhere, but at least it's not at 92nd Garage.
Everyone at the restaurant, and below, will be able to watch those in flight, for good or bad. "I see London, I see France, I see........."
Who is the test pilot? Any suggestions or takers?

Okla and Phantom, you have got it correct.
I usually hate to get into politics but I couldn’t resist posting this one. Is Corregidor supposed to be a memorial/historical park or Disneyland with guns.
CFI begs for money to pay maintenance workers and Sun Cruises builds this. Could they not work together towards a common cause and vision?
Unfortunately I think you are correct about some trees. I expect they will be doing some cutting. Those are big beautiful trees. I hope they do not go too far.
I know nothing about marketing so I was wondering how management could justify a project like this. Lets say 5% of the day tourists stay at the hotel. Perhaps 1 to 2% of that few ‘may’ try the zip line. Where will the lineups of zippers come from?
Occasionally there are company team building groups that fill the hotel for a night or two. The last night is usually a dinner and party with numerous cases of alcohol consumed. Now there are potential zippers. Mix in the booze and a great time will be had by all. Keep the clinic and medevac on alert.
I think I understand the plan now…fly over the land that they cannot afford to maintain.
In two years this will be just another rusting inoperable remnant of a failed venture on the island.
