Nice shots Karl, good that you are connecting the family to the history of the Philippines.
All the schools that send children to Corregidor now on tours will help bring repeat visitors when they are older.
Have been to Mt. Samat before, looks much beter now.
Was the museum open?

I like your picture of the stairs... in 1987 I went up and down the cross via the stairs. The elevator was out of commission at that time. Going up and down the stairs didn't bother me at that time, I was just 16 and none the worse for wear afterwards.

Hey Karl....Thanks for posting. I gotta say that your "tribe" is a fine looking group of humanity. You gotta be proud. It's a good thing you are doing, getting the young ones up to speed on the history of Bataan/Corregidor saga.

Album link above was dead The link to picture album above was dead as 2016-09-06 and I replaced it today. Here are some sample images, they are much smaller! V183. The most significant item that has happened and it struck me right away - the sculptures around the bottom of the cross, depicting historical events have been repaired, cleaned up and have been repainted; they look good. V184. North-West Corner. The sculptures around the bottom of the Mt Samat Cross, depicting historical events have been repaired, cleaned up and have been repainted; they look good. V185. North-East Corner. The sculptures around the bottom of the Mt Samat Cross, depicting historical events have been repaired, cleaned up and have been repainted; they look good. V186. South-West Corner. The sculptures around the bottom of the Mt Samat Cross, depicting historical events have been repaired, cleaned up and have been repainted; they look good. V187. The elevator in the Mt. Samat Cross worked, but later the line to use it got long. This is the link again to the album and the pictures there are much bigger. s74.photobucket.com/user/PI-Sailor/library/Walk%20in%20the%20Philippines/No%202%20Walk%20PI%20Group/Mount%20Samat/Mt-Samat%20is%20ready%2029th%20March%202010?sort=9&page=1or tinyurl.com/j6xppp7
