What is that little explosion to the left?

Not sure, might be from the engines of two boats pulling away from Ft. Drum. It was a 30 minute fuze and they wanted to get away ASAP in case the Japanese set the charges off early.

Hey Guys....That smoke looks like the vessel has taken a hit from a Japanese U-Boat, lol, but I suppose that diesel engines going full throttle might cause such a cloud. There seems to be a pretty good wake being churned up. Drum was going to make a rather efficient "oven" for quite a few visitors from the north. That place has always intrigued me. I suppose "unique" is the most descriptive word that I can conjure up. Cheers.

I think dmether is right in that there was no explosion while we were pulling away and the smoke was from the LCM and our ship as we were full astern. I don't recall the smoke even though I was on the flag bridge at the time. However it was a common thing and wouldn't have been noticed. We went back three days later and it was still hot.
