Good Day Gents,
Here is the word from the Corregidor Resort Manager, he is the top Sun Cruises man on the island.
Manila > Corregidor > MarivelesSchedule: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Depart Manila @ 8:00am, arrive Corregidor @ 9:30am
Depart Corregidor @ 10:00am, arrive Mariveles @ 10:30am
Mariveles > Corregidor > ManilaSchedule: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Depart Mariveles @ 1:45pm, arrive Corregidor @ 2:15pm
Depart Corregidor @ 2:30pm, arrive Manila @ 4:00pm
Notes:
- These times vary a bit but not much.
- Mariveles to Corregidor takes only 20 minutes or so on their fast ferries.
- To start with, Sun Cruises has reserved 20 seats for Mariveles <-> Manila passengers. Changes will be made if demand warrants it.
Cost:Mariveles <-> Corregidor, P100 per direction (Commuter rate)
Mariveles <-> Manila, P400 per direction (Commuter rate, stop at Corregidor but stay on board)
Manila <-> Corregidor, P500 per direction (Commuter rate). This rate doesn't make sense anymore but that is what I paid this week.
Since I was wandering around the north western side of Corregidor today, I saw the ferry coming and going. Here are the actual trip times for Friday, April 15th.
- Arrive from Manila @ 9:25am
- Depart for Mariveles @ 9:55am
- Arrive from Mariveles @ 2:05pm
- Depart for Manila @ 2:25pm (quick turn-around as they had a full load of passengers, 8 Tranvia tour buses were operating)
(These times do not surprise me, Sun Cruises runs an efficient ferry operation).
I have often heard of tourists coming to the Philippines wanting to visit both Corregidor and Bataan. In the past this was time consuming as you had few options. Mostly they went to both places starting from Manila. With this new service you can make a loop of it.
If you don't have a car and want to travel around. Genesis Bus Lines from Mariveles will take you direct to Manila via San Fernando (same bus). If going to the Subic area, get off at Layac and grab another bus going to Olongapo.
I can see another option for guys like armyjunk who come to Corregidor with limited days to spend here. In the past he wanted to visit the Mariveles Navy tunnels and probably other sights in the area.
Consider this. Have a leisurely breakfast at the Corregidor Inn, get on the ferry to Mariveles at 10am, see what you want there for 3 hours, get on the ferry back to Corregidor, have a cold beer at MacArthur's before 2:30pm. Sounds like a good day to me.
Two months remain of this three month trip extension trial. Good luck to Sun Cruises. Wow, excellent service at a very affordable price. I hope it continues.
The Sun Cruises ferry coming from Mariveles. Bataan is in the Background.
Heading to the North Dock.
The day tour crowd jumps aboard.
On the way to Manila.
