EXO: Typical really of people to forget. Many really do not have a sense of history like we do. If I were at that office, I'd "feel" history. Others? It's just another office space.
OT... I remember saying something about history, some item or location and its historical significance. A coworker looked at me silently, then a pause, then said "Uh, ok. That's nice." in a bland tone.
Like I said, a lot of people just don't have a deep appreciation of history.

WOW! I wonder if the people who occupy that office space know how much history that balcony has. I doubt though.

Hey Nowhere....These are great shots. I saw somewhere, years ago, movietone newsreels showing happy Filipino civilians on those beaches helping unload barges, pushing vehicles mired in the sand to more solid ground, just anything to help the returning GIs. Those people just seemed estatic, knowing that the visitors from the north would soon be on the run. Thanks for sharing these still photos. Somewhat on topic... I remember my grandfather's tale of taking care of family and mum (who was still a baby back then) during the war. They took to the hills when occupation was getting too hard already. Then the Americans arrived to liberate Panay. He told me he ran out to the beach to greet the GIs, bringing a watermelon. He returned to his family with several cans of milk for mum.

Great pix!
I'm planning a Death March trek next year. It'll start at Death March Km. 0 on 9 April 2011, then walk all the way to San Fernando, Pampanga. From there, it's a bike ride to the two memorials at Capas, Tarlac. Still in the conceptual stage (and I still need to get me a decent mountain bike ;D ), main problem being logistics and security (either staying at inns along the route or camping). Anyone interested in joining me on this week-long historical trek?

Thank you for the welcome, Nowhere Man. One reason I like to go solo is because I am responsible only to myself and there's no one to argue with if there are problems. ;D Still, going solo has its risks, and going with a buddy is always a good thing. Problem is, I can't find a buddy just as crazy as I am. ;D

What a great shot of the eagle!!! Is that a Philippine Sea Eagle? Thanks! I don't exactly know what it is, but I reckon it's a kite.
