If you deliver the Tags to the family in person, My wife and I are going on vacation the end of Sept. in that general direction. We would love to meet up with you if the timing worked out.

A little more research and I see the National Archives & Records Administration, War Department Files has Edward R. Kocar Listed as DNB (Died, Non-Battle). So according to the records he technnically was not KIA (Killed in Action). We will have to do a little more research and see what the 161st was doing around March 14, 1945. What was the date of the State pictures that Fred Hill took? Kocar Is not in the Ohio Picture.

I found this when doing some research. www.wwiimemorial.com/registry/cemetery/search/pframe.asp?HonoreeID=761898I don't see Edward on any of the KIA lists for the 503rd. I'm assuming there were other parts of the 161st in the Pacific but not attached to the 503rd? Hence Edward is not on the KIA lists? I just can't seem to find any info on the 161st other than Company C that was attached with the 503rd. Do you know if the 161st Airborne Engineer Battalion was only company C...it seems that way in the lineage section. Do you know of other 161st Airborne Engineer groups in the Pacific during WWII? I get a little confused sometimes as to how the military attaches and detaches groups. Thanks for your help.

I found Matthews resting place.
Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Hartford County 1 Cottage Grove Rd Bloomfield, Connecticut
PVT. Matthew D. Musolino Section L Lot # 987-988
He was buried in 1949. They do not have his date of death on file. Which we know should be 2/16/45 ? His mother was Angelina Musolino.
I was given a name and number of a possible Kin. Some one was recently buried in the same lot and I have a name for the contact...Most likely a relation. I will be glad to give it to whoever would like to talk to the possible family. I am not qualified to go any further as it’s not my place.
I hope this info helps.

Yes this and other photos I have are from ebay. I do have some from Fred Hill also.
I received the rest of the photos from the morning of September 5, 1943. I'll be sure to send them to you. Hopefully over the weekend I will have time to post more photos. They are pretty unique as you mentioned. Maybe we can add these to the website to display better.

Let me clarify my statement. He MAY have a brother that was in the service. I was just guessing…not a definite. When I was checking the national archives I came across Frank Musolino from Hartford Ct.
Frank could be a close cousin too? I was just throwing it out as another avenue to check.

Here is some info I found on Matthew. This is from the National Archives. He enlisted in the army on Feb. 24th 1941. He was born in 1920. He had 2 years of High School. He was single, without dependents. Civilian occupation was Architect.
I have also been calling cemeteries in the Hartford Area. So far I have yet to find his resting place.
He may also have a brother Frank Musolino who served in the army. Frank is also from Hartford CT. Frank was born in 1915 and was married when he enlisted in 1942. Maybe this lead can help?

Happy holidays everyone.
I was wondering if anyone has a list of, or knows of some sort of list of captured Japanese weapons from when the "Rock" was retaken by our troops. Rifles, machineguns, pistols, mortars etc., mostly small arms.
If anyone has a "bringback", I would like to ask a few questions about it. Mainly looking for markings on the wepons themselves.
Thank you for your help. Dan

Hello, This is my first post glad to be here ;D I have been collecting 503d and 462nd photos and various other things over the last year. I became interrested in both groups because one day at an antique store I found a hand painted DUI on wood for the 462nd FABn and started doing research. More about that the DUI later My only real avenue for getting good photos has been ebay. For an arm and a leg, you too can buy 503d photos off of ebay. I have noticed most of the photos are from the Signal Corps....Are these photos avaiable at the national archives to make copies of? Has anyone here tried that route? Is there a way to get good copies of these photos taken by the Signal Corps? Thanks so much. Again glad to be here. Dan
