Another suggestion is: to have a phone or bring one you can put a local sim card in and that way you can communicate with all of us here. Using a cell phone over here is a lot cheaper over here. Karl Karl, great idea. I'll have to look into that. Maybe I can add international on my cell for that month. Do you have Verizon over there? Or should I just purchase a disposable phone once I arrive? Again, good call..thanks for the idea. Dan

Here is a teaser for your viewing pleasure. What do you think it is? I'll give you a clue...this piece your looking at is leather. It says "Corregidor island" The rest, not in the picture says "Feb 16 1945" "S/Sgt BLANK BLANK" "Co. H 503rd" I'll reveal the name later and more pictures. It is a weapon...it is a GI bringback. Any thoughts on what it may be? More next week....once I get it in my paws. I'm excited.

Fots...I am in your debt for sure. I'll buy you a beer when we get to town Okla, My dad did not jump on Corregidor. He jumped in Vietnam. I got "the bug" through another source. As far as what we want to see...basically Corregidor and the cemetery to visit some of the fallen 503rd members. Thats really all I have an interest in...anything else will be icing on the cake. My wife and I are young, we hike and walk every where. I was hoping to get dirty and climb in some holes and do some real exploring on the island. Hence all week there. I'll look into the travel clinic and get that rolling next. Sounds like I don't have to worry about reservations until September'ish? We will be on the island Feb 16th for sure...that much I know. We have Marriott rewards, I see Manila has a Marriott...we will probably stay there a few nights as we have some free nights to redeem. I will have more questions later. Thanks again. Dan

It's official, I'll be on the "Rock" in 2011 along with my wife. I asked this before, but can't seem to find the thread. Now that it's official, I need your help.
WHAT DO I DO?
It'll be 2 weeks in the area. I plan on 1 full week on Corregidor. The other week will be travel time and lag recovery and seeing manila. With that said, we need to see the National Cemetery, and Intramuros. Anything else?
Does anyone know what kind of Shots we need to get ahead of time? I think yellow fever for sure. Where and how do you guys stay on Corregidor? The Inn of the cabins. How long in advance do you book the reservations?
I'm thinking Corregidor would be the second week of the trip, well after recovery. How do we see the smaller islands, like fort drum etc?
Thanks for all your help and incite for a first time traveler.

janner,
Because of limited space and bandwidth we don't allow for posting videos. There is a video section on the website. I'm sure if you contact EXO, he can give you a little more incite.
You can post a link to a video easy enough. By using the url button in the post editor.

Frank Maddy was killed on Corregidor Feb. 19 1945. Moye is not on the jump roster for the Corregidor jump, but that doesn't mean he wasn't there. Just as Frank Maddy is not on the Jump roster either. But we know he was there.
Sorry, I don't have any info for you. If you have any to share with us, we would love to hear it. I'll ask the guys I know in "D" company if they remember anything.
Thanks Dan
