Hello,
I am looking for as many books pertaining to the defense of Corregidor during 1941-1942 as I can find. Here is a list of the books that I already have:
"Corregidor: Saga of a Fortress" William Belote & James Belote
"We Band of Angels" by Elizabeth Norman
"Corregidor: Alamo of WWII" by Eric Morris
"Conduct Under Fire" by John A. Glusman
"Destination Corregidor" by Robert L. Underbrink
"General Wainwright's Story" by Gen. Jonathan M. Wainwright
"American Defenses of Corregidor and Manila Bay 1898-1945" by McGovern & Berhow
I am open to any suggestions not on this list. Whether they are currently in print or not. Also the suggestions don't have to be entirely on Corregidor, just contain some information on the siege.
Regards,
Will

"The Wainwright Papers" (4-volumes) compiled and edited by Celedonio Ancheta. Volume II is about the Harbor Defenses of Manila Bay. Rest of the volumes cover the defense of the Philippines up to May 1942.

Hey Will...Eric Morris has another book, "Corregidor - The End of the Line" that I have in my collection. It's very good, but the title is a bit misleading, methinks. Most of the book deals with the actions leading up to the siege (prewar buildup in the PI, fighting on Luzon plain, Bataan, etc) and the actual fighting/defense of 'he Rock" is only a small portion of the work. I would still recommend you getting it, if possible. It was first published in 1981, by Stein and Day, New York. Probably is a scarce commodity by now. Good luck.

Eric Morris book 'Corregidor-The American Alamo of World War Two' is also available titled 'Corregidor-The Nightmare In The Pacific' and 'Corregidor-The End Of The Line'. But it's the same book regardless of title.

Hey Ironman...Thanks for the info. You well might have saved me from snatching up those two titles in some used bookstore in the future. I enjoyed the book, but still think the title is very misleading since most of the material is prewar situation and Bataan related, etc. and short on the actual battle for "the Rock". Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep em' coming. I would have to agree with you okla on the Eric Morris book. I recently purchased this book of many titles, and although I am only half way through the book there has been very few pages devoted to life on the Rock. When purchasing the book I was under the assumption from the title that it was almost entirely dedicated to the Corregidor story. So far it is a good book and seems to be well researched from the personal experiences of the men that served in the Philippines. However, the author seems to jump around to so many different stories and areas of the invasion that it is sometimes alittle confusing. Thanks again for the input.
Regards,
Will
