Hey Guys...I am not an authority on vintage vehicles either, but I was thinking, when first viewing the street scene, that the first auto was a 1941 Buick or possibly 1940, but lean to the '41 version after viewing the color shot furnished by Darth. As to the folks in the Philippines driving British style (backwards to this old coot) you could have fooled me. Why would a territory/colony,etc administered by Americans, during the coming of the motor car, pattern it's traffic flow after that of Great Britain (and others). You would think the American method would have been in vogue. Another, unimportant riddle, to run me nuts. Oka-san continues to wonder why I get so "hung up" on such trivia. I reply, "what in the Hell do you see in those stupid Hollywood award shows with all the "beautiful people" strutting their stuff on the "Red Carpet" How about that for a reply??? Cheers. Postscript...I would be interested to know what the windshield placards say. Probably parking permits issued by the Japanese Occupation authorities since both vehicles are displaying identical cards.

@battery,,,Great Shot Battery,, I love that angle is this shot taken from where the Post Office would be? and we are facing the TM Kalaw Burgos Area. I think I can see. the Metropolitan Theater at the Side at the Left this is Awesome. okla -- Yes I am curious to why did the Colonial government did not change the Traffic Direction, to the American standard when They Introduce the Automobile, I guess old habits die hard since, European style, Left hand Drive where already in place by the Spaniards for over a hundred years when all they drive were Horse drawn carts.

Hey Battery....No big deal. Even the great Stan Musial struck out on occasion. I seriously doubt that this one "booted" chance will be held against you. You still have my full confidence. lol. Who would have thought that European traffic patterns, etc would be in effect in the PI after so many years of American administration and during the rapid introduction of the automobile. As Darth said, "old habits die hard". Cheers.

okla, Yes it baffled me as well that it took like 45 years to change it to the American style traffic Patterns, anyway Driving Patterns in the Philippines is like seeing Patterns In a Drunk Spiders Web. I remember during the Early 90s my Uncle used to drive a right hand drive Toyota Celica, but will drive on the Right side of the road since that is the Law, so it may be a bit Dangerous its only in the mid90s that the Government made a complete ban on right, Hand Drive vehicles

Hey Okla, thanks for the vote of confidence. That is why I always place a disclaimer stating " However, I can or maybe wrong"... -- until I am really clear and sure. I am cleaning up my hard drive and I still have around 6,000+ digital photos that I need to sort out and a lot of them are Philippine based subjects. So the clean up continues. Good thing I saw this photo and then saw quickly that it was in the P.I. more later my friend and I still owe you the AA accounts and claims

Hey Battery....You will certainly continue to have my full and complete confidence in matters such as this. lol. Looking forward to the Corregidor AA "destroyed" claims. Those Japanese statistics should give a truer estimate, methinks. I wouldn't think that they would distort or lie to each other, would they? After all, who would know better about their actual losses then the folks who counted noses after missions returned from pummeling the "Rock". Cheers.
