BRINGING THIS FORT WINT THREAD BACK TO LIFE!
I STARTED THIS THREAD BEFORE I KNEW HOW TO UPLOAD IMAGES TO THE FORUM THE CORRECT WAY AND IT DID NOT HAVE ANY IMAGES, ONLY A URL TO GO BACK TO THIS ONE WITH 64 IMAGES:

This is step two of two to upload all the pictures to this thread and make it more interesting without having to go back to another album. This is the second half of the pictures from the above album but are much smaller though!
GRANDE ISLAND EX FORT WINT 2004-02-14.
On 14th Feb. 2004 a group of friends had an opportunity to visit Grande Island, the ex Fort Wint. The previous year it was announced that a developer had gained the right to develop a resort there. Since the Base closure in 1992 and up to now Grande Island was not open to the public. The new Grande Island Resort was not open yet but we were going to get a sneak preview.

Y544. I think this was at the No. 1 gun of Battery Jewell. In 2004 it still had this MG gun barrel laying there, a Navy souvenir. On later visits it was gone. armyjunk says this: Hi Karl, just a note, this is a Japanese Model 93 (1933) 13mm AntiAircraft Machine Gun barrel
