The site of the Tribute is at the Filipino Heroes Memorial. The advance party to set up things landed on the 6th of April, it was mostly Military Personnel. The last Navy vessel departed in the morning of April 8th, 2018. This album is about the extent of the Philippine Military support for this event. 37 images were uploaded into this Photobucket album about this event: s74.photobucket.com/user/PI-Sailor/library/Corregidor%20at%20Random/CI%202017-2019%20Random%20Albums/Phil-Military%20lands%20on%20Corregidor?sort=9&page=1In this forum presentation I chose 8 images: Za882. A future U.S. Secretary of Defense in the Philippines 1944/45. Zc266. This is Caspar Weinberger as a junior officer on Gen. MacArthur’s staff. This image came from EXO, Paul Whitman, the web master of the famous and great web pages of Corregidor.org. EXO’s father, as an Australian enlisted man, served alongside those men on the image. They all belonged intelligence of the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) command under Gen. MacArthur. Caspar Weinberger is the 3rd person from the right, in the front row, seated. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caspar_WeinbergerZa266. Caspar Weinberger was an American statesman and a dedicated public servant. He wore the uniform in World War II, held elected office, and served in the cabinets of three Presidents. As Secretary of Defense for President Reagan, he worked to strengthen our military and win the Cold War. Note from Karl: He also was responsible in preparing the way to reunite Germany, my native country! I proudly served under this most respected leader of our Armed Forces.

There are a great many observations which might be made in respect of the demise of a submarine captain's career, however the one which concerns me here is whether this is the result of an informant within the chain of command, or the action of a foreign agency. If it is not one, then it is the other, and each of them are equally disquieting.
Further info received: He fell under the eye of the NCIS. Hmmm.

USS Pioneer MCM 9 is in the Philippines Today I walked around in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) and was surprised to see a small U.S. Navy Ship Z434. The USS Pioneer's MCM 9 is moored alongside the Alava Extension Wharf, near the first on-ramp to the wharf. Note the familiar Subic Bay landscape but we sailors never paid much attention to when we were heading in haste to the main gate for liberty; they could be closing the gate later for whatever reason. Z436. The USS Pioneer's MCM 9 is moored alongside the Alava Extension Wharf, near the first on-ramp to the wharf. It looks like some vendors set up some stalls on the wharf/pier next to the ship. The sad story is, and I only suspect it to be so, that the crew only can enjoy liberty within the perimeter of the former Naval Station Subic Bay. Z437. If you look close you can read the name of the ship and a sailor in camouflage uniform is patrolling topside. Z438. USS Wasp, SPMAGTF 4 Arrive in the Philippines for Exercise Balikatan Z445. SUBIC BAY, PHILIPPINES (March 30, 2019) – Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) prepare to man the rails prior to arriving to Subic Bay in preparation of Exercise Balikatan. (Photo by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Benjamin F. Davella III). The whole text and the 3 images are from U.S. Navy sources as indicated here! By USS Wasp (LHD 1) Public Affairs | March 31, 2019 SUBIC BAY, Philippines (Mar. 30, 2019) – The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), with embarked Marines from Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) 4, led by 4th Marine Regiment, arrived in Subic Bay on March 30, 2019, in preparation for Exercise Balikatan. Balikatan is an exercise between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States, and also features participation from Australia. Balikatan is a Tagalog phrase for “shoulder-to-shoulder,” which characterizes the spirit of the exercise and represents the partnership between the U.S. and the Philippines. “We are excited to visit the Philippines for the first time since Wasp was forward deployed to 7th Fleet,” said Capt. Colby Howard, Wasp’s commanding officer. “Balikatan is a great opportunity for the Navy, Marine Corps team and our allies from the Republic of the Philippines to learn from one another, and further improve our ability operate together.” During Balikatan 2019, U.S. and Philippine forces will conduct amphibious operations, live-fire training, urban operations, aviation operations, and counterterrorism response. All events will take place in Luzon and Palawan. This will be the first Exercise Balikatan to incorporate the Wasp with the embarked United States Marines Corps’ F-35B Lightning II aircraft. Together they represent an increase in military capability committed to a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Participating in Balikatan demonstrates their ability to quickly forward deploy in support of an ally should a crisis or natural disaster occurs. Balikatan 2019 will also bring together ASEAN members for an International Observers Program. The program aims to promote greater defense cooperation with ASEAN and other key allies and partners; show multinational coordination where the observers can mutually exchange meaningful ideas and best practices; and showcase the joint and combined air, sea and ground operation of the AFP-U.S. armed forces. This year’s Balikatan focuses on maritime security and amphibious capabilities, as well as multinational interoperability through military exchanges. Exercises like Balikatan strengthen international partnerships and the participating militaries’ abilities to rapidly respond in unison to crises throughout the Indo-Pacific region. USS Wasp is the flagship for the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group and is currently forward deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet. ea of operations to provide a ready-response force for any type of contingency. Why this weekend is perfect for Intramuros. Here are five reasons: Manila Bulletin put out this story today with this URL: mb.com.ph/2020/12/05/why-this-weekend-is-perfect-for-intramuros-here-are-five-reasons/This story, the above URL had 3 pictures, I liked this one the best! U642. Aerial view of Intramuros (Photo courtesy of Intramuros Administration) via the above Manila Bulletin Board article, including the below description. This place lets you dive into a rich history behind great walls and cobblestone streets destroyed, preserved, and rebuilt time and again, without traveling too far. The famed citadel, Fort Santiago, is the main landmark to see if you want to soak in the Spaniards colonialization era straight out of the history books. There’s also two UNESCO World Heritage Sites here, the Manila Cathedral and the San Agustin Church.
