CORREGIDOR WITH FOTS2 2013 JAN. 14TH TO 18TH
WALK TO GEARY POINT, JAPANESE GUN VIA BATTERY CHICAGO
Day Three, Wednesday the 16th Jan. 2013
Attempted to reach Geary Point, along the coastline, from Bottomside. It was low tide and I thought it was possible., we started at about 0715H. We got close but didn’t make it. The water was getting deep and we would risk getting our gear ruined. We tuned back.
Then I tried to get up on to the South Road by the “Wall”. That again was risky and I almost got in a bind but with AJM’s help got out of it. I had to give up that idea. At the bottom of the wall a defense position which I had noticed a long time ago. AJM said he was sure that the position was VI-M-5.
Then we left the beach and climbed up to the South Road next to VI-S-I, up a little Ravine. Up we went along the Government Road, short cut thru Gov.-Treasure Guard Qtrs. About 80 meters up the Geary Trail we looked at the 6 inch artillery shell stuck in the road, discovered by Tom Aring some time ago. We believe, that is a projectile indeed. At the Civil Gov. Water Tank JM marked another GPS reading.
The next task was to check out San Pablo village and the Stable area. One thing, I noticed was the Ravine going thru it and water was still running. AJM showed me the section of rail he had found.
Then we decided to go the Morrison Hill to find more of the WWI era AAA gun blocks. AJM showed me the most Northern One and then we found the next one to it. I looked at the Battery Chicago Range Station and the Battery Control Station.
We decided to call it quits and AJM guided us, with his GPS devise, towards the only remaining Japanese gun and we returned to MacArthur Café via the Eng. Ravine.
WE did see something strange and it will be another Corregidor mystery. About 80 meters NW from the Japanese Gun are several very large Concrete chunks with as much as 1 ½ diameter rebar sticking out. Some are somewhat deep in the ground. How did they get there?
All 79 images from this whole day walk are uploaded here but have short titles only:

We failed but 17 images of this try have been placed into this album:

Z486-We reached the wall and what I believe is or could be VI-M-5 WWI defense position. I always wondered about the wall but I am sure it is an embankment to the South Shore road.
Z491-We approaching Breakwater Point, fots2 or AJM is in the lead and it is low tide!
Z492-Geary point is in sight but we had to give up, we would have gotten our gear, GPS devises and cameras , wet!
Z493-The 6 inch shell on the Geary-Trail just a few feet from the intersection with the Government Road. Tom A. our friend had noticed it a few years before.
Z494-A closer look at the 6 inch shell, that is what we believe it is!
Z495-Corregidor map, marked up with the points and landmarks mentioned in this segment of this thread.
Z496-We continued thru the ex San Pueblo Village, there are several things to see but I present here only the small water run that originates here and flows into the Government ravine.
Z497-On our walks we come often across these lizard traps, I believe that is what they are for. Rotten meat or what ever attracts the lizards are hung up and in this case line is rigged in a triangle around the hanging bait. Every few inches are loops rigged that will synch up on the lizards leg if they step into it.
Z498-Close up of the lizard trap, the picture is not good enough but the loops are there, every few inches all along those three legs of line.
Z499-We continued up the government road passed Battery Ramsey and near by is this Corregidor recycle center. Everything useful is separated and shipped off the island.
Z500-A feet further is where the wood is recycled, charcoal or other uses. These are logs from trees felt by storm over the road or in other public places. Battery Ramsey is behind those trees at right.
Z501-At the ex Fort Mills horse stable area fots2 discovered some remaining trolley rails the Japanese or scrappers did not get. He showed them to me.
Z502-At the ex Fort Mills horse stable area fots2 discovered some remaining trolley rails the Japanese or scrappers did not get. He showed them to me.
This walk presentation will be continued!
