INTRODUCTION
There are a great many falsities and fallacies attached to the Battle of Manila, and this forum is intended to provide a place, and the means to debunk them. Despite the title, we do not limit the topic to Manila only, for that is one of the first issues that needs to be corrected - the atrocities which took place in Manila in 1945 weren't the only atrocities which the Japanese committed in the Philippines, it's simply the most widely known of them.
Don't be intimidated by the books. Authors are fallible. There are are a great many unworthy authorities out there which have been written to an intent, and do not to record the truth. Unfortunately, the repetition of inaccurate information quoted over and over again, mantra like, has created a contagious disease that contaminates other authors and books. Sometimes, an entire line of modern authorities can be traced to a single wrong authority, the latter authors never having done original research.
Our Forum requires civility, and will not tolerate any form of racism. We will allow the words of the era to describe the era if they were written in that era, but we will not smile upon those same words being used to diminish the present.
A Forum is like my front porch. There are a group of us here, old guys, sitting and chatting, looking back on life and attempting to make sense of it. We're not trying to best each other with BS or braggadocio. Some of us are media people, writers, authors, lawyers, lecturers, senior managers, career military, and some of us were there. You may sit at a vacant chair, and join in, but do not disrespect us, or you my find yourself out on the street.
If you've come here from the BattleofManila.Org, and are not familiar with how this forum works, here's a quick summary:
