It’s with great sadness to inform everyone that our beloved Ed Ramsey passed away yesterday, March 7, 2013. Mrs. Raquel Ramsey provided the following information: There will be a Funeral Mass and Memorial Service on Thursday, March 14. Viewing at 10:15, and Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church 10750 Ohio Avenue, Los Angeles CA. 90025His burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery but there is no scheduled date yet. If you would like to contribute to the memory of Ed Ramsey, please send them to the U.S. Cavalry Association and Research Library P.O. Box 2325, Building 247, Cameron Street Fort Riley, KS to the attention of Brig. Gen. Philip L. Bolte, USA, RetEd Ramsey is known for leading the last horse cavalry charge in US Army history, in Morong, Bataan against the Japanese in January, 1942. He evaded capture by the Japanese and went on to become a highly successful guerrilla leader till the end of the war. He has written a very inspiring book titled "Lt. Heroes comes and Heroes go....i have a Reader's Digest of his exploits in Bataan particularly the only known last Cavalry charge horse mounted of the 26th in any theater of WW2, Bataan Morong sector hold the distinction... In his memoir he was operated due to an acute apendix without any anaesthesia somewhere in the mountain east of Manila and being pursued by Japanese...i can't imagine the pain...I hope there would be more hero in our midst even in our modern times...I said Goodbye Sir..!

He was a unique soldier and man. I, seriously, doubt that they make 'em like Ed Ramsey much anymore. RIP Colonel Ramsey

Wow, just this past Feb. 23 as we were passing by Moron, Karl mentioned to me that Col. Ramsey was still a kickin' as I was aware. At times, it seems only loss is the product of the passage of time. It is all going so fast.
