Back in 2002, I was in contact with Jack Butler, who had written a manuscript about his WWII in the 82nd Chemical Mortar Battalion. Jack was an extraordinary fellow because he had created his own website, one of the few WWII Veterans to do it themselves. I told him that I was intending to develop a website about the Battle of Manila which I had lately started, to complement one I'd started concerning Corregidor. He readily gave me permission to reprint portions of his manuscript concerning the Battle. So for a few years now, his article has been on a direct link from our Friends page, where I am sure you've all seen it. Yeah, right. Well, for those who didn't, I now have it as a featured article on that website.
It's more than a decade later, and I am at last completing this part of my "to do " list. Unfortunately, Jack passed in the interim.
I trust you think it is worth the waiting.
The article appears by the kind permission of the four-deucers Website known as United States Army Chemical Mortar Battalions at 4point2.Org under Webmaster Bruce Elliott.

I first discovered Jack's account about the 82nd CMB several years ago. A very interesting and readable account about these guys who seemed to be present at nearly every battle in Central Luzon. Thanks to EXO for including it here!
