Where are Death March Markers # 103 to 105?
I recently retraced the Death March from Mariveles, Bataan to Capas, Tarlac and found DMM # 102 at the San Fernando Rail Station. When I continued tracing the march, I found DMM# 106 at the Capas Rail Station. The DMMs are in sequence #00 to #112.
It is true that some numbers along the way were not used or no sponsors were found to pay for them.
Does anyone know the reason or has an explanation why the marker numbers jump from #102 at the departing rail station (San Fernando) and continue with # 106 at the arriving rail station in Capas?

A well known survivor wrote me this:
Hi, Karl, My understanding of the Markers is that they were set as people sponsored them and that they did not necessarily go from one KM to the next. As I recall, I had a choice of KM spots, or, rather, my Sponsors did, as noted. I could be wrong but I have someone there who should know and will copy them. FAME headed up the Marker Project. I am sure Leslie or Jim or both can clarify this for you. Take care, good luck,
Tillman J. Rutledge Commander/Adjutant Battling Bastards of Bataan
