So far my pictures are still showing. My relationship with Photobucket is a little different in that I had a paid account. In view as what has happened I do not want to hotlink any more pictures from my account because I am afraid that they now will say: “We gave notice and we see you are still doing it, so, so sorry”!!!!!!!
I would like to start a web account and I have a domain name and a hosting site but I don’t know what I am doing. The 2 sources I asked for help did not come through yet. But I hope to get it done before long and post new images that way.

I have noticed that my photos have disappeared as well. I don't have any where near as many photos as some others on this forum and I'm quite annoyed at how much time I wasted trying to embed all these images only to have them go away, so I can only imagine the frustration of others. I haven't looked into it much, but are there no other sites that will let us embed our images here for free?

I'll throw this out there as a possible option for hosting images. Essentially, I've already developed what your looking for, for the 503rd Datatbase that I've been developing (InThe503rd.org). An Image Bank for storing images. The program can be modified to meet the needs of forum. This is how it works/would work (basically like photo bucket, but without all the junk) and we would have control over it. User Registers and creates account Once logged in, user would be taken to their "page". ... heck down the road we could allow viewing of all photos in our database by registered users base on category (search screen) On their "page", user can upload images, view images, edit/delete base on registration credentials. All uploaded image data will be store in a database on the server. The images themselves would be stored in folder on the server. If user wanted to insert image into this forum...just copy the link. The pages/program/database could be hosted at website/hosting service that is currently used for the websites that support this forum. I could probably just create the pages in asp.net and pages could be hosted on sub-domain or a new domain name, which would only be a few, along with the database(Basically a few templates for viewing the data)- since it would be database driven. The options would only be limited to our Dreams, Abilities and Time. Could even put in a Pay Pal donate button for hosting fees, facebook share for each image, etc.. "see below- sample user interface for uploading images from computer- Photobucket has not got me yet... the image below is being hosted by them"
EXO is exploring this further with Todd Mayer. If going forward, the general parameters would need to be that the member should be a paid-up current member (that may mean a re-up for some of you irregulars). The images would be divided into two streams - current and "unique historical value". How good they are would determine how long they would be hosted/preserved. Images must be for forum purposes (not for profit-making use elsewhere). Plus a bunch of legal stuff I haven't even turned my mind to yet.
If the discussion with the Roderick Hall Collection goes ahead, historical images of quality can be hosted at a permalink for a 30 year period, possibly longer, in a library standard archive established by Rod Hall and myself. There will be digital library standards applied for "unique historic images", necessitating unspoiled 300dpi resolutions minimum.
To defray the costs of setting up, the library must be able to licence the image, for which the owner of the image would receive a commission.

Making progress, finally found professional people to help me start a webpage. Trying to find someone thru friends or local computer stores did not pan out. Maybe a few more days and I should be able to hotlink images from my own web page.

One of my favorite forums - http//2coolfishing/ttmb has put a new "HEADER" advising that Photobucket is blocking member photos to advise against linking photos to that site. smokinguntoo

This is a test to post an image to this forum from my new web page. However the webpage is not finished yet, it will be a few more days before I can post images onto the forum again on a regular bases. This picture may be deleted again so please, there is no need to comment or reply. zaoo1. That was in 1969 and in DC, at the Navy 1st Class Diver Training.
