I just paid US$29.98 for the renewal of the concretebattleship.org domain for 1 year. A contribution is appreciated. I do regret not having the time to work the website more, and it does tend to be an "out of sight, out of mind" experience. Life is what happens to you while you are making other plans.

What is the best way to go about contributing ?
_____________
EXO REPLIES - I will attempt to answer this, because initially the costs of concretebattleship.org come from the same place that the costs of corregidor.org, battleofmanila.org, rockforce.org and 503prct.org, all come from - either my Paypal account, or when that's inadequate, my credit card. There is a variation with concretebattleship.org, to which Richard King and Shawn Welch have provided assistances from time to time.
So, if it's just a simple sending of cash, a Paypal to p a u l @ w h i t m a n d o t c o m d o t a u would help.
It has been on my mind a while. None of us live forever, and the question of what does one do with a popular "website group" in the long term, has played on my mind. That's partly why I have published a number of books, to ensure there is something more permanent than just a website. I recall that initially, concretebattleship went off the air when its original author/owner Richard Johnsen died.
For about 18 months or so, I had been attempting to take up an offer by Roderick Hall, that he would support the websites thirty years into the future, as part of the works of a foundation he had. I said "Yes, great idea, let's do it!" but he has done nothing, nor has he designated anybody to "make it so." He asked me what the annual cost was, I told him ( it's not very much, actually.) His words never translated into actions. i even offered to sell him the entire battleofmanila.org website, lock stock and barrel. His wife died, he had medical issues - "Life is what happens to you while you're making other plans" John Lennon wrote.
GO FUND ME, well, I have heard of them. I don't know if they can be prevailed upon to keep what is essentially a self-funding hobby on line from month to month. Does anyone know?
I had toyed with the idea of getting sponsorship for a site, maybe allowing someone to get their name above the title. Sort of like the Executive Producer credit of a movie. As I mentioned above, I was willing to sell battleofmanila.org along, because I knew that Rod Hall understood what its purpose was, and that he would guard against it's falling into the hands of those who believe the Memes we have tried so hard to eradicate.
All of this, and I still haven't been able to come to a point of view, have I? Sorry about that. Short answer is "OH HELL, I DON'T KNOW!"
I've got to cut this short, I have to go work on my book.
