Japanese Hospital Ships
I learned the Japanese had some of these ships during WWII.
I wonder why they never used them for transporting the Allied POWs in their hands.
U374. The Tachibana Maru a 279-foot Japanese "Hospital Ship" was captured two weeks before the end of World War II by two American destroyers. The enemy ship was attempting to smuggle soldiers, arms and ammunition to the Japanese mainland.
The above picture and text came from this URL and it is from the bigger web page War Tales:
JackJensen: I came across my father's name - Capt. Paul Jensen - who was with the CIC, on the forum. I'm hoping to find more, though it appears that his area - Sicily, North Africa - was not the focus of the board. So, I'm not sure how much I can contribute.
