Some questions about the PR's assigned to the Asiatic Fleet at the start of the war... When the Yangtse Patrol was dissolved on December 6th did USS Oahu & USS Luzon immediately "chop" to the 16th Naval District, or did they remain Asiatic Fleet units until they joined the Inshore Patrol on the 8th? (2) Was the South China Patrol dissolved at the same time as the Yangtse Patrol, or did it remain active until USS Mindanao arrived on the 10th? Thanks!

Although I can't answer your specific questions, a couple of sources that may be of help:
1) "Yangtse Patrol" by Kemp Tolley, which tells the story of the US Navy in China until 1942.
2) "Fighting for MacArthur" by John Gordon, which details the service of the Navy and USMC during (and just before the Philippine Campaign.

Thanks! I have a copy of Gordon's book & I didn't see anything there. It's been years since I read Tolley & I wasn't looking for the status of the gunboats when I did. Looks like I'll need to go back and see what I can find...
