I want to express my concern about what might be going on in the Island of Corregidor while this COVID thing is happening. I'm sure you're aware of the potential scrap metal that could be salvaged on the island if no one is taking precautions. Even while my wife and I lived on Middleside from 2008-2015 we encountered minor scrapping at the remote sites. This happened despite the presence of the Philippine Coast Guard. Is anything being done to protect the historic treasures on the island until it returns to "normal?" I understand that Sun Cruises is no longer providing tours, so maybe normal is a long way off.
I am not saying scrapping is going on, but the possibility has me very concerned. It would be tragic and heartbreaking to learn that the huge coastal guns were turned to scrap while no one was paying any attention.

This blurp reminds me of when, in 1989, I was atop Malinta Hill and looking at the bare remains of a gun shelter that had, in 1987, been much more substantial. It was being worked on by scrappers during that time. When I looked down at Bottomside I could see the new CFI building just a couple of hundred yards away. When I went back down, I went down from SL No. 8, I observed several bags containing cut-up pieces of rebar along the trail. Even back then CFI didn't give a s..t.
