For anyone wanting an overnight visit, CFI has a few basic rooms at MacArthur’s Lodge available @ P1,000/night. Limited food choices are available.
The other food venue, Baywalk, is closed.
Following the government’s protocol on mitigation of the virus, the following safety measures are to be observed;- Negative rapid test result or medical certificate to be presented upon check-in at the terminal - Wearing of face mask AND face shield (No Mask, No Entry) - Use of alcohol/sanitizer at all times - Temperature Check - Filling out of Health Declaration and Contact Tracing Form - Age restriction: 15 years to 60 years old only. That is all I have for you. If anyone is feeling rich then traveling to Bataan and hiring a boat to Corregidor is an option. I do not know any details about doing this. Happy New Year folks!

Thanks John for posting the "CORREGIDOR NEW NORMAL" information. I know it's not your fault, what I'm about to reply. It looks to me that the Ferry People have cooked up the perfect means to discourage our demographic from pursuing anything beyond a two-hour tour of Corregidor. Fancy that, eh, a five thousand peso boat penalty fare for an "overnight", accommodation excluded. Did you catch that part about "weekend only"? Having stayed many a time at the former Inn, one of the things that I have noticed are the preponderance of people 60 years of age. They are the people with the disposable income, and the time to cross the international dateline to go to the Philippines. This protocol allows me to write the following headline, "CORREGIDOR - THE PHILIPPINE WWII MEMORIAL THAT FORBIDS ENTRY BY WWII VETERANS" - because it is true, sickeningly true.

I agree EXO.
With Metro Manila still in GCQ (quarantine level), government restrictions being in place where many people choose whether to follow the rules or not plus being many months away from any effective vaccine, I think it is far too early to reopen Corregidor. CFI may need money but it is just too early.

John,
Well you are the man on the spot, and I'm not, so I will not demur. Duterte is not making many friends fast when it comes to getting that vaccine, and I suspect his government has been so depleted of cash reserves, normality is a long way away still.
The problem is something which a lot of 'third world' places will experience. Some governments are so financially weak, or their reserves so depleted by institutionalized corruption, the destruction of their taxation base, or hobbled by inefficient health systems, that they can't - or won't - be able to pay for the poor to be immunized. The elite will have misspent all the available aid money already, and they have ruined their friendships from those from whom they will need more funding support. The ruling elites will be immunized, and the poor will be left to fend for themselves.

Seems likely that the chinese will show their largess [and increase their soft power and influence] by gifting vaccines to poorer countries that they deem in their sphere of influence, and thereby tame the infection they let lose on the planet.
Hope all is well there, as is well known, chinese virus still running rampant in the USA. I am deemed "essential worker" [construction], so have been working right through the whole year, so far so good and am glad to have a few days off for new year.
Would love to visit the Rock, out of curiosity how much is 5,000 pesos USD ? Must be extra spooky there with no one around, especially at night. I wonder if the scrappers are running wild with very little to keep them in check ?

If my numbers are correct, 5000 Philippine pesos is currently about 104 USD.
Keeping my hopes up that some day I will once again be able to visit The Rock and meet all of you guys in person. But it is now so much more complicated to plan and arrange a trip than in the 1980s!
P.S. - Happy New Year to all. 2021 has got to be better.

westernaus, I had the pleasure of meeting Dolly on a couple of airline flights. She was always friendly and pleasant to crew and passengers alike.

Visiting Corregidor in Feb. Yesterday, I drove to Villa Carmen and the MAAP Port/Piers at the bottom of Bataan to get information to travel to Corregidor. The Villa Carmen boat people gave me a name and mobile number on Corregidor they would have to get clearance from or get permission from, before they would give me a ride. I tried to contact the number, unsuccessful so far. I will contact CFI (Corregidor Foundation Inc.} to get the strait scoop. I planning to observe the 76 anniversary of the first US Flag raised on Corregidor by the Liberators of Corregidor on the 16th Feb. 1945. To me/us that event is equal in importance than raising the famous First Flag on Iwo Jima. This flag raising anniversary has been observed now for two decades + by us, the friends of the Corregidor Heritage Proboard, in memory and recognition of the 503d PIR Paratroopers and the soldiers of a battalion of the 34th Inf. US Army. U677. The bottom of Bataan where the boats to Corregidor where available before. At the MAAP Pier, Camaya Point, the El Corregidor boats #1 and #2 were not in sight. I contacted the owner of the boats, Mr. Wilfredo Labrador; he said that he had to stop operations because the virus crisis killed his business in March 2020. His boats and vehicles are on Corregidor, available to be bought at a bargain price. As you may know, I recently returned to the Philippines from the USA and had to learn about travel permits. One starts with the local Village Chief, if he agrees with your purpose of travel he will issue a certificate with his stamp of approval. Then you go to the village medical department on days the Dr. is available and get a clearance certificate from his department if you are ok and have no symptoms. After that you go to the local Police Head Quarters and the issue their final permit. So, as of this moment I’m waiting to hear from CFI and I’m hopeful they will respond positive soon. I actually made one album with all the venues of this trip into this album, but it is a long one: philippine-sailor.net/2021/01/19/bataan-trip-21-01-15/
