Hi all. Thanks for having me. I'm currently resident on Negros Island. I've been doing some research on the campaigns here and gained a ton of insight into operations and the conditions under which they were undertook, for which I'm extremely grateful. I'm trying to encapsulate the major operations that took place from the time of the first landings at Pulupandan in March '45 and the final surrenders September to October '45 in a multimedia format, while there might still be something visible on the ground, or at least before the sites get concreted over. And because I'm here on the ground, I might be able to interview some more people who witnessed these events. To that end, I'm trying to visit as many of the key sites as possible and interview as many witnesses as possible.
So far, I've published a few videos covering that effort:
WW2 Museum in Valencia
An overview of Operation Victor
From Green Beach to Silay
Retracing the Tokaido Road
From Murcia to Fabrica
Fabrica to Bug-ang
The east coast invasion of April '45 and the fight for Dumaguete
The 3km road the 161st Parachute Engineers built for the Battle of the Ridges
From the final pitched battle to the surrenders in September
The story of Lt. Col. Satoshi Oie, war criminal
Next I'm looking to retrace the steps on the west coast, in Negros Occidental.
I also did a short video on the PT boat evacuations, particularly that of President Manuel J. Quezon, which involved Negros Oriental:
I'm not here to promote these videos, just letting you know what I've done so far. I will have some questions on topics I'm hitting brick walls on, and hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction. Thanks for your time!
