I'm researching the trial of Gen. Masaharu Homma, who was held to answer for the Death March and other atrocities committed by his troops. I'm looking for any information on James Baldassarre, a Death March survivor and key witness against Homma.
Homma's defense was that he did not know what his men were doing. Baldassarre, however, saw Homma riding in a staff car along the route of the march. Since that route was littered with bodies, Baldassarre's testimony supported the prosecution's argument that the atrocities were so widespread, pervasive and continuous that Homma had to know what was going on.
Any information on Baldassarre would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Joe, by way of response, his son Federico Baldassarre is active in various POW circles. Several years ago, Fred used to visit this forum occasionally, but he was a difficult fellow (not just my opinion, that) and he doesn't visit any more. I think he is in the San Francisco area. Last known email is fbaldie at pacbelldotnet
