I've had the History of Battery IDAHO on the website for several years now, but the version I was working from was missing at least one page. Recently, I was contacted by Debra Bois, the granddaughter of Sgt. Herschel C. Hiemann, who had been with IDAHO. He had been captured, had suffered a Hell Ship in the transportationto Japan, and had survived the war. Through all of this her grandfather had preserved a copy of the Battery History, and she scanned it for me. I have been able to update the website with the missing information. The information formerly missing was a list of battery personnel. Here is the Battery history, now in full.
What has been even more worthwhile is that the scans she provided had pencil notes which recorded the known fates (ie unfortunately the deaths) of a number of the men listed. I have created a flipping book presentation of the document. The presentation now takes its place in our reference reading section.
