I will do my best to ask him about these men. The one name he does remember is the lieutenant who would not listen to him and whose "firing orders" rather than "sensing orders" killed some of the outfit. I will not reveal the name because it will just open a can of worms. The dead were no doubt reported as KIA and not "friendly fire" and the lieutenant's family doesn't need to know this.

We know Arlyn Kline. I need his new email address. My husband spelled his name Eugene. On his first separation papers he was listed as Eugene H. Bert instead of Eugene A. Bert. RA39549423 was his number. I am gradually finding my way around this site. It is a tad difficult. I am used to another system; I am the director of a public library. Gene is 16 years older than I which is great because now that he is in failing health I am able to care for him. He is a wonderful man.

Jason, I just found this among my husband's papers, dated June 2008: Reunion in Shreveport, LA. Sept 10 thru Sept 14, 2008. Phone 870-856-2216. The letter came from Nelson Gatewood, 2817 Highway 62-412, Highland, AR 72542-9455. There was also a letter from Sleepy Linton's widow, Margie. It is too long to type here. Give me a snail mail address and I will make a copy for you. It reports on members of the 503rd who are still living. She mentions Jim Wilcox, Louis Culbertson, Josha Hata, and Chuck Warner.

Hello, My name is Jason Wolcott. I'm a member of the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team. I'm trying to get into conatct with members or family members of 503rd. veterans. I'm wondering if the vets still gather for reunions because I'd like to try to arrange for the Team to make a demo jump for them at their next reunion (if they still gather). We just did a jump in Birmingham, Al. for the 508th. (82nd.) It was a great jump and the vets loved it as they always do. I've always admired the fellas of the 503rd. and it's my opinion that their actions in the Pacific sometimes get overlooked or over shadowed by the ETO. Thanks again and have a great day! Jason Wolcott Jason, I recently found this in my father-in-laws stuff. Thought you might be interested in it. WWII ADT
