Hey One50
Welcome back.
No they are not at the batteries, they are on the edge of the parade ground just across the street from the Cine. They are pictured now on this thread.
I have looked up the twin mount pictured there and have found it in both the .30 cal and .50 cal. Armyjunk says it is .50 cal but I can't shake the feeling that it is too small to be a 50. But he probably has more experience in this than I so must go with what he says. Also, he showed a copy of the Japanese pistol, 8MM and it is clearly marked as Nambu. I have seen now other references to the type 92 machine gun and it is also referred to as the Nambu so I am now officially, thoroughly confused.
Wait a minute, I just checked the photo in this thread of the Nambu pistol posted by Armyjunk for the correct spelling of Nambu, and it lists the ammunition types used as 8MM and Nambu. Could the Nambu reference just be referring to the ammunition used? Could that be the reason for the multiple references of Nambu for a pistol and a machine gun?
Can somebody please shed some light for this guy in the dark?

There should be confusion about the Nambu...here is why.
Captian Kijiro Nambu worked at the Koishikawa Arsenal from 1897 - 1945 designing various ordnance with great success. His name would be equal in U.S. terms to Samuel Colt. In generic terms I have a few Colt pistols, I also have a few Nambu pistols. People know the name, not the model. That's the issue we have here. The Japanese pistol everyone tends to refer to as a "Nambu" is actually a Type 14. There are a few other "Nambu" pistols that to the average Joe is the same pistol, but are actually different models.
So to say a Nambu MG or Nambu Pistol or Nambu rifle....it's a generic term, because Captian Kijiro Nambu hand some hand in it's design. But he is best know for the "Luger" design type of pistol generically called "Nambu".

Hey Armyjunk
YES, that appears to be the one, though the one pictured is a single mount but seems to be identical. Doesn't it look small for a .50 cal, though? But there it is. What publication is that that you are referencing there? Would love to have one.

This may not be the right thread but for every ones interest who are travelling to Corregidor island now or in the near future . Sun Cruises are relocating to a new terminal near the Mall of Asia . The new terminal was opened as I understand 4 days ago .The name of the terminal is on the Sun Cruises web page although there is no map to show the exact location of the new terminal .

Armyjunk
Thanks for the link. I will have fun with that.
Westernaus
I had heard here on this site that the terminal was being moved but I don't think anyone knew the exact date. This is good to know that it has now officially moved.
Did you by any chance have an opportunity to use the new terminal? How does it look? Is it still pretty much a smooth operation from check in to launch? I have been there twice and it always seemed to go very smoothly and the ferry left on time.
Hopefully at this new terminal, it will shave a couple of minutes off the cruise time to the island.

Howdy beirutvet . No I haven't had the chance to use the new Terminal. I am hopeing maybe next year to do a trip to the island . Meantime Iam back in Aussieland doing the usual house chores .I heard about the new terminal a few weeks back from some relatives that live in Manila . I did a bit of fossicking around the internet and found a few sites with photos of the new terminal . It is called The Esplanade Seaside Terminal Manila and by the pictures or photo's it looks quite swanky . Hope this info will help . Regards Westernaus .
