Hi Six pages from ONI 42-42 covering HIJMS Hatsuharu. Hatsuharu was sunk in Manila Bay 13th - 14th November 1944. The destroyer sank in shallow water in an upright position. I hope these posts are of interest. The little bit of research I have done places HIJMS Hatsuharu as sunk in Manila Bay. Google Earth indicates the place of sinking as being in Manila Bay, which appears correct. The research I did for HIJMS Nachi (a previous post above) suggests it sunk approximately 12 Nautical Miles north-east of Corregidor. However, Google Earth indicates the site of sinking as west and south west of Manila Bay. It can't be sunk in three places, but as the Nachi is reportedly in 102 foot of water, it may be 12 Nm outside Manila Bay. On Google Earth the Kumano is marked as having sunk in Manila Bay. However, the latitude and longitude of the site put the sinking in Santa Cruz harbor - 100 Nm to the north-north-west. Written documents confirms it was sunk in Santa Cruz Harbor. Therefore, there may be errors in actual place of sinking of these ships. Regards mgk
