Hey Fots, Wonderful shots! My next objective is to bring you to Fort Hughes. I am planning something for 2010 and you are the first on my list this time.
To Okla, you share the same sentiment to a friend of mine, a ret. Brig Gen of the Phil Air Force who flew every transport aircraft in the inventory. Nothing beats the ride and handling of a C-47 according to him.
For Okla and for everyone else, I will just briefly describe how we got to Battery Fuger. So let me borrow the photo posted by fots again with some labels that I added:

1) We started out in front of the new admin building (where the old one used to stand) and walked to the remains of Battery Leach (2 -six-inch DC guns). The Battery was hit by US bombs in 1945 and blew 85% of the battery to bits. Only the No. 2 gun remains in its busted emplacement
2) Then we walked along the road leading towards the helipad but as soon as we hit the slopes of the hill we started our ascend to look for Battery Fuger. After our ordeal with the branches and sliding slope, we hit the 3-inch battery (what was left of it)
Gun No. 1 of Battery Fuger
The central magazine of the battery (underneath all the rubble)
A fat batteryboy in the emaplacement. There are several busted concrete in the area indicating debris from a large explosion in the vicinity
Then we wandered off and decided to take a different path going up until we hit the old water tank.
and its still in use today.
Then we went down to normal road and converege with the rest of the CDSG guys in the warehouse.
Then we decided to head toward Battery Woodruff for my crowning glory.
(for dramatic effect)
Cheers,
