FORT DRUM, THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY VIEWS
Here are three images of Fort Drum, also known as El Fraile Island in Manila Bay. The 3rd one was cropped to three additional separate images to make them appear zoomed in. These pictures were provided by Karl Schmidt of the Coastal Defense Study Group (cdsg.org) and who got it from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
I uploaded them to Flickr at a good size, into the album “Aerial Views from NARA via CDSG” and they are numbered E1 to E6:

The same six pictures are presented here but they are smaller than in the album:
W274 (E1) Fort Drum, Fraile Island 1927, the picture was provided by Karl Schmidt of the Coastal Defense Study Group (cdsg.org) and who got it from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
W275 (E2) Fort Drum, Fraile Island 1945 under attack by the Allied Forces, the picture was provided by Karl Schmidt of the Coastal Defense Study Group (cdsg.org) and who got it from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
W276 (E3) Fort Drum, Fraile Island 1945 under attack by the Allied Forces and before the capture, the picture was provided by Karl Schmidt of the Coastal Defense Study Group (cdsg.org) and who got it from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The Japanese are still down deep in that fort, nobody in sight.
W277 (E4) Fort Drum, Fraile Island 1945 under attack by the Allied Forces and before the capture, the Bow zoomed in. This picture was provided by Karl Schmidt of the Coastal Defense Study Group (cdsg.org) who got it from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
W278 (E5) Fort Drum, Fraile Island 1945 under attack by the Allied Forces and before the capture, the Midships zoomed in. This picture was provided by Karl Schmidt of the Coastal Defense Study Group (cdsg.org) who got it from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
W279 (E6) Fort Drum, Fraile Island 1945 under attack by the Allied Forces and before the capture, the Stern zoomed in. This picture was provided by Karl Schmidt of the Coastal Defense Study Group (cdsg.org) who got it from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

On the 14th of August 2009 a friend and I visited ex Fort Drum, on Fraile Island, the Concrete Battle Ship in Manila Bay. Because the gun barrels on the after 14 Inch turret dropped down, in, out of sight there might be some renewed interest in the ex fort.
