Hey Chad...I say again, those close ups of our guy's faces, going into captivity and all the stuff that went with it, will always kinda get to me. Almost makes you feel as if you actually knew them, served with them, got drunk with them on pay day, etc. I find myself getting a bit melancholy. I had better go to bed. Cheers.

Hey Chad....I realize that the heat, etc probably has already distorted the facial features of these poor unfortunates, but the body on the right appears (to me at least) to be Asian. If so, these dead troops are probably members of the Philippine Army or Scouts. Of course, we will never know. Heck, he might be a red headed, blue eyed kid from here in Oklahoma. As I have said more than once, these photos that show the faces of our guys always get to me.

In this thread many of my links to albums have been dead, even to albums in my Photobucket account. As of today, 2011-Aug. 08 they are active again. You have to click on the sub albums: s74.photobucket.com/albums/i265/PI-Sailor/Death%20March%20Markers%20Death%20Camps%20and%20Memorials/Here are some small images from those links. As we know, for many that were fortunate enough to survive Bataan and O'Donnell, or Corregidor, the next hell was Cabanatuan. Many were brought by train to Cabanatuan station, others arrived at camp by truck. Japanese soldiers (R) await train arrival at Cabanatuan station. Photo from "Philippine Expeditionary Force", published by the Japanese in occupied Manila, 1943. The taped-in caption says "The railroad line from Cabanatuan to Batangas is opened in June" (1942).

I think someone asked for a closeup of the old Death March signs a while back, and this morning I found a 1986 shot of KM 31, hidden away in some of my old photos.

I've seen this on several websites presented as an authentic Death March photo, but something about it strikes me as a reenactment. Any comments?
