Fort Santiago Visit 2022-04-11
I have been in Fort Santiago before and in this album I present just items that are new or I did not notice or had time to look at before. For example I never went down into the dungeons, this time I did or was able to do it. A new photo collection called: “Allies for Freedom”, or I did not notice it before, is presented at the American Barracks. That the late president Elpedio Quirino was held as a prisoner here in Fort Santiago for 16 days by the Imperial Japanese Aggressors is a fact I did not know. Two views from Fort Santiago astounded me and surprised me. The views are a new cluster of high-rises is being erected across the Pasig River and the new bridge over the Pasig River is completed.
13 images have been uploaded into these two albums, same contents, if you are interested:

#05. This is one of 5 images in Fort Santiago in the dungeons, site of a terrible atrocity, about 600 people in the custody of the imperial Japanese Military died here because of overcrowding (they were crammed in here like sardines) suffocation and heat exhaustion. In my view thirst and hunger was another reason. When the Americans discovered them after the battle of Manila they were buried here nearby en masse. Notice the bricks on the floor, it can wet here at high tide.
